Boca Reservoir: 2.2015
Boca Reservoir,
when full: capacity = 40,901 acre feet, surface area = 3,340 acres, shoreline = 25 miles. Boca Dam (earthen, 1939) impounds the
Little Truckee River after it flows out of larger and later (1970), man-made
Stampede Reservoir.
Boca Reservoir was built on the site that had been created as water storage by ranch owners in the Truckee Meadows at least as early as 1900. Boca Reservoir stores water and provides fishing opportunities before emptying into the final leg of the
Little Truckee River shortly before it flows into the
Truckee River.
Timberlines in the distance indicate the average level of the reservoir which sports speed boats and water skiers in normal years.
