Biographical Note
A writer and professional storyteller, Myers has a Masters in Literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and teaches in English and Education at SCU. His work for children includes eight picture books, numerous national awards, and excellent reviews from The New York Times; he also has a poetry chapbook coming out, and his essay "Glimpsing Tokyo" was recently nominated for a Pushcart Prize. He has 30 years of teaching experience, from sixth grade to graduate school.

A relative newcomer to California, Myers is building his repertoire of California stories for oral storytelling. His children's book Yao Bai and the Egg Pirates is currently in submission and he's working on other picture books based on California history. He regularly does author visits to schools.
