Ruth Nolan is Professor of English at College of the Desert in Palm Desert, California and editor of No Place for a Puritan: the Literature of California's Deserts (Heyday, 2009).

A poet and a writer, Nolan primarily focuses on the Mojave and other California deserts. Her work has been published in numerous literary and academic journals.

Nolan has published two collections of poetry, Wild Wash Road and noaDry Waterfall (Petroglyph Books), and she is currently at work on several new prose, poetry and photography projects. She writes a blog, "Desert Word Walk," for Heyday Books. She lectures widely on topics related to desert literature and is a passionate desert conservationist.
