Santa Clara University's California Legacy Project seeks to increase public appreciation of California's literary and historical legacy and to promote the critical understanding of California diversity. In doing so, the Project aims to shape contemporary public opinion about the continuing relevance of California literature, history, and natural history within a broader culture driven by rapid innovation.
The California Legacy Project will fulfill the mission through achieving the following five strategic goals:
1. |
Demonstrate the contemporary relevance of California's multicultural literary and historical legacy through public events programming and publications aimed at a broad general audience |
2. |
Explore the relationship between Californian tradition and Californian innovation as these themes are embedded in our culture and in our technology |
3. |
Provide a public forum for faculty to share California-related research with colleagues, students, and the general public |
4. |
Promote attention to California in the Santa Clara University Core Curriculum |
5. |
Foster faculty/student collaboration on California-related research and creative projects |
